This follows an incident that occurred in the Absa Premiership match between Kaizer Chiefs and Mpumalanga Black Aces on 24 February 2010, where Vermezovic stormed into the field of play in an aggressive and menacing manner charging towards the referee, with the result that he had to be restrained by the Chiefs players.
Vermezovic was found guilty and fined R50 000 wholly suspended for 12 months. He was also handed a one match ban and ordered to pay the cost of the sitting amounting to approximately R21 000.
The sanction will be effective 7 days from date of judgment subject to his appeal.
The case involving six Santos officials and players appearing on charges of bringing the league into disrepute following unsporting behavior and abusive language towards the referee has been postponed to March 15.
